THE SUBCONSCIOUS IN YOUR BODY: Tucked away within the intricate web of our bodies lies a remarkable connective tissue called fascia.
This body-wide network not only supports and surrounds every organ, muscle, and bone, but fascia experts are starting to discover that the illusive subconscious that runs 95% of our behaviors, thoughts, feelings and beliefs… is mostly stored in the fascia. 🤯
New expanding research and bioenergetics now suggests that fascia can actually store trauma and stress, leading to a myriad of physical and mental symptoms.
HOW THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE: From the impact of stress on the nervous system to the potential role of fascia in holding tension and trauma, there's compelling evidence that the body truly does "keep the score." 📚
While more research is needed, I have leaned on the mind-body-spirit connection works of several pioneers in this field in my own healing work over the last 7 years (recommendations below).
Science, including the field of epigenetics, already understands that chronic stress and trauma can lead to prolonged activation of the sympathetic nervous system, affecting various bodily functions.
This can impact hormone levels, immune function, and inflammation throughout the body. Additionally, emerging research in psychoneuroimmunology explores how mental states can influence physical health through complex interactions between the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems.
LET THERE BE LIGHT! Many healers work directly with divine light for healing and energizing techniques. It turns out that manifest light (and I’m talking about photons here), can also achieve healing outcomes.
From soothing infrared saunas to mood-boosting chromotherapy, light therapy offers a spectrum of benefits. For example, studies show that infrared light can reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, and relax muscles.
Chromotherapy uses colored lights to balance the body - red energizes, blue calms, green heals. Light therapy also treats Seasonal Affective Disorder and skin conditions.
Many of the latest skincare tools are now high tech light and vibrational devices for reducing wrinkles and fine lines, eradicating blemishes, and more.
And of course don’t forget the powers of the sun! 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight and fresh air per day can do wonders for your mood, health and functioning.

MY GO-TO BODY HEALING REFERENCE BOOKS
When clients come to me with chronic physical complaints, I always begin the healing session by consulting the spiritual and emotional correlations shown to contribute to or cause their symptoms. You can reference these books too in your own self-healing work.
Focusing on how to heal trauma in the brain, mind and body, this book is the go-to manual for healers and psychologists alike. While its ideas were innovative at the time, and more mainstream now, I still keep this one handy. |
Though not written by the original author of the above book, this workbook can help you more easily implement the ideas and guidance to heal trauma. |
Don’t let the simple cover fool you! This is one of my favorite go-tos for quick insight to identify where to begin tracking a client’s situation. |
This one is great if you want quick easy healing exercises you can implement for addressing any physical ailment. It also provides a system for addressing limiting thoughts and emotions. |
Louise Hay is perhaps the most well-known expert on the emotional and metaphysical underpinnings of physical disease and ailments. Her books provide an easy reference list of physical complaints and their mental-emotional causes, along with affirmations for overcoming them. |
In addition to referenceable lists of physical ailments and their emotional counterparts (similar to the above books), this one also provides a detailed exploration of each body system and what its symptoms reveal about yourself. |
